If you've never heard of Mises before, but you've studied some economics (or you just follow the news), you'll need to know that the capitalism that Mises is talking about is different in many ways from that portrayed in the mainstream media. (If you want to argue against Mises, it's as well that you know this so that you're arguing against Mises' actual position rather than what you might assume to be his view.) A good place to start is this (very!) short biography: Who is Ludwig von Mises?. His classic treatise on economics Human Action is now available on this site (you can find it here). If you get bogged down in the philosophy, set it aside for a while, kick off your shoes and relax with our Fun Stuff. We're looking for really daft limericks that capture something of the Mises essence. Discover Ludwig von Mises is an ongoing project.
